Danielle Cotton joined the Pacific Prime Shanghai office in February of 2009 for the role of Business Development. Mrs. Cotton was responsible for compiling a comparative overview of a selection of insurers to help clients purchase a medical insurance policy that met their needs. She would help clients review their options, guide them to a suitable plan and advise on the application process. For the initial year she was the point of contact for Pacific Prime’s clients, and would help with queries on benefits and anyone who required assistance processing claims. Prior to joining Pacific Prime, Mrs. Cotton worked in the Hospitality industry in the UK working as a Hotel Manager. “I think my experience in the hospitality industry helped me for my position today because it is heavily customer service focused.”
In 2010, Mrs. Cotton moved to Renewals where she assisted Pacific Prime’s existing clients review their renewal options. Preparing a comparative quote for clients to review whether renewing the current policy was their best option, she provided advice on the advantages of staying with the same insurer, as well as a list of alternatives. Clients’ requirements often change, and many benefit from a switch in providers at renewal, so Mrs. Cotton would “Ensure our clients receive a prompt reply containing all the facts in order for them to make a informed decision on the best possible option for their situation and/or budget.’” Explaining to clients the benefits of renewing their existing plan and the pitfalls that arise from switching providers, she ultimately ensured Pacific Prime’s clients were happy with their medical insurance coverage.
Returning from Maternity leave in 2013, Mrs. Cotton stepped into the role of Renewals Manager, responsible for overseeing the Shanghai team and looking at ways to improve renewal retention rates by focusing on improving internal procedures. Ensuring clients renewed their policies within the deadline, she introduced more control in the handling of renewals procedures resulting in a better system for assisting clients.
Her new role in the Hong Kong office will be overseeing the Renewals Team, taking a stronger role in the renewal of corporate accounts and individuals seeking Hong Kong health insurance. “The HK renewals team are extremely experienced with some individuals being here since it all began fifteen years ago. I look forward to working with them to make the team even stronger as well as trying to improve internal procedures and bring our systems into line with our other offices.”
With six years of experience in the insurance sector Mrs. Cotton will be a key player as Pacific Prime continues as Hong Kong’s largest international private medical insurance provider. She has already increased the efficiency of the team both in Shanghai and Hong Kong, as she looks to enhance profitability and drive operational excellence as the company positions itself for significant growth in 2015.
